ACB conducts raids on municipal corporations

Rs 80,000 was seized from Guntur Municipal Corporation office

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths conducted a surprise raid on the Municipal Corporation Office in Guntur and seized Rs 55,000 from the contract and outsourcing employees and Rs 25,000 from the town planning department.

According to ACB officials, raids were conducted as many complaints were lodged with them against the Town Planning department employees from all corners.

The raids were conducted in order to make the State as a corruptionfree and provide transparent administration to people.

Raids were conducted on Srikakulam Municipal Corporation, Vizianagram Municipal Corporation, Gajuwaka zone, Madhurawada zone, Kakinada Municipal Coporation, Tadepalligudem Municipality, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, Guntur Municipal Corporation, Ongole Municipal Corporation, Nellore Municipal Corporation, Tirupati Municipal Corporation, Proddatur municipality, Yemmiganur municipality and Kadiri municipality.

In Kakinada of East Godavari district, ACB officials conducted raids on municipal corporation office, town planning section and observed that the process of plan approvals was being delayed and identified deviation in construction against the approved plan.

In Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation, Gajuvaka zone, five ACB officials conducted a raid on the Town Planning section and verified the records.

DSP Shakila Bhanu, CI Lakshman Murthy and others conducted the raids. ACB officials continued raids on Town Planning section of Vijayawada Municipal Corporation and verified the records.

The raid was conducted under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Maheswar Rao.
