Two brothers also Doctors who belong to a farming family from Haryana’s Sirsa district also private practitioners at Chandigarh have set up a medical camp to provide free medical care to the protesting farmers who are strongly against the Centre’s three new farm laws. Sukhwinder Singh Brar and Ramjith Singh Brar with the help of their doctor friends are providing this free medical care.
Sukhwinder said “Everyday we are giving medical care to almost 1,500 people who are coming up with different complaints.” They have set a range of medicines at the boot space of two cars . The medicines can take care of several health related issues. “Most people are coming with complaints of hypertension, joint pain among elderly ones, diarrhoea, constipation etc,” said Sukhwinder.”Some elderly people who have run out of their medicines are also approaching us,” he further said.
Sukhwinder claimed that a team of 10-15 people including paramedic staff are working at this camp to provide medical care. He also added that they themselves belong to a farming family and this has motivated them to serve people here he said that more doctors from Barnala in Punjab will join them to give them support. Most of the protestors have been staying in tractor-trolleys which have been turned into temporary shelters.
