INDIAN CITIZEN SHOT IN QATAR BY THE EMPLOYER

An Indian national, Haider Ali (35) ,who worked in Doha was shot in his face allegedly by his Qatari employer Ibrahim Yusuf If Alfadala. Reason for this shocking incident was asking for leave to visit his family in Bihar,India. Ali’s family came to know about this incident from their relative who is also in Doha and later the Indian Embassy official had contacted them.

Haider’s brother Afsar Ali said his brother was already booked to fly to India the next day of the unfortunate incident, and instead of the journey ,he was admitted with gunshot injuries at Hamad General Hospital in Doha. Haider is reportedly out of danger and is in stable condition. The Embassy and Qatar authorities are supporting the family as well.

 

Afsar is doing his PhD in Kerala, but has been in his village due to the pandemic. He said , “my brother was shot point-blank by his employer. My father is a heart patient and is still in a state of shock. He got 6 children- five girls and a boy. All are in shock.” He continued by saying , “I first got a call from my cousin Javed who also works in Doha and told us what happened. Later indian embassy officer Dhirkaj Kumar had called us to inform us about the incident. My brother was in much critical state and has stabilised now.”

 

Haider has been working as a welder for the past 6 yrs in Doha and also worked at the residence of his Watari employer. He hadn’t visited home since 2018. The investigation is still going on the exact matter which actually provoked the employer to do such a heinous crime. Haider is the sole breadwinner for his family . The family is worried that he might not fully recover. Afsar said “the Qatar government should provide us with compensation for what had happened to my brother.” The family awaits to hear further on his health condition.
