
NEW DELHI: Two major Malayalam television media have been banned from reporting the riots in Delhi that created rifts between two communities. Asianet News and Media One have been banned by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. It will be banned from 7.30 pm to 48 hours.
The central government has taken action against Asianet and Media One for crimes such as broadcasting scenes of the demolition of temples, unilateral reporting of riots and helping to spread the violence across the country in the event of a conflict.
On the 28th, the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry had sought an explanation from Asianet and Media One. The action was taken as these media violates the rules of cable TV
