SASIKALA PAYS FINE AMOUNT OF 10 Cr TO COURT : EXPECTING RELEASE. TN CM SAYS AIADMK WILL STAY AWAY FROM HER FOR GOOD.

Late CM Jayalalithaa’s assistant Sasikala ,who is spending her time in prison now has remitted a fine amount of Rs.10,00,10,000 to the 34th City Civil Court,Bengaluru on Wednesday by DD with regards to the disproportionate assets case. Her lawyer has now told that her release is expected anytime “sooner than later”. However Tamil Nadu’s CM ,Edappadi Karuppa Palaniswamy asserted on the matter saying that the expected release of Sasikala is not going to alter the stand of AIADMK. It was already decided by the party not to keep her or her kin. The government also is not going to alter the stand taken, he told the reporters in Coimbatore.

Sasikala’s counsel, N.Raja Senthoor Pandian said, the court is now expected to send a communication to the prison authorities about the payment of fine and she is expected to be free sooner much before unlike the dates mentioned earlier which was January 27,2021.Sasikala’s relatives also are undergoing simple imprisonment of four years in the asset case in the Parappana Agrahara Central Jail. all three of them were imposed with a fine of Rs.10 crore in addition to Rs.10,000. Pandian mentioned other two people also are in the course of remitting the fine.

The trial court in 2014 had convicted Jayalalithaa and three others on charges which included corruption and criminal conspiracy. These charges were put after 18 yrs of the filing of disproportionate assets case on her.t the Chief Judge John Michael, had imposed a fine of Rs.100 crore on the late AIADMK Supremo. In 2015 however, the Karnataka High Court had set aside the trial court’s order convicting Jayalalithaa and three others. With the death of Jayalalithaa in 2016 December,the appeal against her by Karnataka was kept aside temporarily.

In 2017,after the Supreme Court restored the Bengaluru trial court’s overall judgement against Sasikala and her two relatives,VN Sudhakaran and J Elavarasi in the assets case,the late AIADMK CM Jayalalithaa’s much trustworthy aide, Sasikala surrendered before the Karnataka court on February 15,2017 and she has been imprisoned since then.
