As of 7pm ET wednesday,250,140 deaths have been reported across the U.S based on the data collected by John Hopkins University.Roughly 11.5 million infections have been confirmed till date. More than 1,000 people have been dying every day this month and 100,000 cases are being reported every day keeping the U.S still as the first heavily infected country. The record rise in new cases as on Wednesday in all the 50 states in the U.S is pushing hospitals to the edge. This indeed is pushing health-care workers to their limits as they deal with worsening conditions inside hospitals, which are struggling to provide care to the overwhelming number of patients.

The U.S President Donald Trump is fuelling outrage across the country as he continues to dishonour his election loss, and is firing his own officials who dispute his baseless claims. While the U.S is racing past the pathetic mark of over a quarter of a million Covid-19 deaths, Trump is sitting there still sulking in the White House blocking the efforts by his soon-to-be successor,Joe Biden,to work and fight along with his task force against the worsening pandemic. Trump is seen still tweeting and spreading lies about vote fraud and such matters instead of working for his nation using his power now which he had assured the nation with before the elections. It’s all showing as false assurances. He has forbidden any members of his administration to even talk to Biden’s team.

It is a very weird scenario now happening in the world’s oldest democracy,a President is refusing to admit the clear result of an election in which the Americans voted to remove him from office.President Trump is putting a bruised ego ahead of the health of millions of Americans now. He has kept away from any public events and any office works now and literally in an empty schedule at the moment as chosen by himself but still he got no space to warn the country of the new wave of Covid-19 which is rather clear by his refusal to accept the importance of mask-wearing and social distancing. This certainly shows that by the time Biden takes up the power in January 2021 U.S will have the highest cases of infections and deaths.

Biden on Wednesday made his sharpest call yet for Trump to officially launch a transition, warning that a failure to do so would slow the delivery of vaccines. Biden said,”Soon we’re going to be  behind by weeks and months being able to put together the whole initiative relating to the biggest promise we have with two drug companies coming along and finding 95% effectiveness, efficiency in the vaccines ,which is an enormous promise.” the President spoke to a nurse from Minnesota, via an online link. The nurse describes terrible scenes in ICU wards where the staff had to resume N-95 masks until they fell off their faces.

The president of the Minnesota Nurses Association Mary Turner told Biden, “I myself held the hand of dying patients who are crying out for their family they can’t even see for the last time. I’ve taken care of co-workers as they fight for their lives on a ventilator and know that they got sick because the hospitals or their government hasn’t protected them.”  Health experts are warning that the continued delay in getting Biden’s team into the program will complicate the massively difficult task of administering the vaccine. The former director of Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Tom Frieden said on Wednesday evening, “ this is the most disruptive health event we have had in a century and it didn’t have to be this bad. It is so important that the handoff be done smoothly because this is going to be the most complicated program in American history and it is going to span two administrations”. He added that the sooner the current administration begins speaking openly and in detail with the incoming administration, the better and smoother that handoff will be done and the more they will be able to protect people,”

But Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar made clear on Wednesday that there won’t be any such contacts until Trump decides to order the General Services Administration to initiate a transition. Azar said, “We’ve made it very clear that when GSA makes a determination,we will ensure complete,co-operative professional transitions and planning. We follow the guidance.” While the President is absent, the burden of leadership is falling on states and cities that are implementing more stringent measures to try to control the rapid spread of the virus.

The Chancellor of NY City school announced Wednesday that schools will be closed until further notice. The out-of-control rise is leading governors and mayors across the U.S. to bitterly issue mask mandates, limit the size of private and public gatherings ahead of Thanksgiving coming on this month 26th, ban indoor restaurant dining, close gyms or restrict the hours and capacity of bars, stores and other businesses.

The U.S top Infectious Disease Specialist,Dr.Anthony Fauci said on wednesday that the denial he is seeing across the United States pains him and he hasn’t been able to speak to Biden’s team, “ I wish that we would be able to do that. Even in some of the states where they are getting really hit badly, we’re hearing people even denying there’s a problem even when their hospitals are getting filled.” Fauci said. He also said that he was frustrated by those who still claim that Covid-19 is like Flu. “ You have a quarter of a million deaths here , 11 million infections,Flu doesn’t even come close.” said Fauci.
